When a snake gets too big for its britches / it slips out of its old, tight gear / them growing pains set it a-howling / that's a sound nobody hears.
It's a war - a nasty war coming / it's a river rising to flood / the streets will be melting beneath us / and the river will be foaming with blood.
As the soldiers lay siege to the city / spying fruit bearing trees of the field / each whack of the axe gives rise to a wailing / that's a sound nobody hears.
